A lion and a zebra meet nose to nose over a shallow pool. The lion stands on the left with his weight forward and his mane drawn in long combed strands, while the zebra leans in from the right with its head lowered to the water. Its stripes are laid down as solid black bands that narrow along the legs and stand up in a bristled crest along the neck. Between the two animals the pool is ruled with concentric ripples, and a stripped tree with a few blossoms leans in at the left edge among reeds and small flowers.
An ornamental border frames all of it. Each corner holds a large stylized bloom with curling vines, and loose paisley shapes and spirals drift across the top of the sheet.
The zebra has already decided most of this page for you, since its stripes are printed black and cannot be changed. Build outward from that. A warm tone on the lion sets him against his companion without competing, and the water takes a pale wash so the ripple lines stay visible. Save the strongest color for the corner blooms, which are large and closed and sit far enough from the animals to carry it.
