Two lions sit shoulder to shoulder with their heads tipped together and their noses touching. The one on the left has a full mane drawn in long ruffled strokes, and the one on the right has a smooth head with a small tuft on top. Both have their front paws forward and their tails curled around, and there is no background at all.
Outlines are thick, the shapes are large, and the two animals are nearly symmetrical, so this is an easy page. Ages four and up will get through it happily.
Since the two are much the same shade in life, use the mane to create contrast instead. A deep russet mane against two sand colored bodies gives the picture structure without inventing anything.
Lions greet each other by rubbing heads and pressing cheeks, a behavior that spreads scent through the pride and is one of the clearest signs of who is comfortable with whom.
