Ice is the interesting surface to solve. Do not treat it as flat white. Work very pale blue-gray across it, then leave hard-edged white streaks where wind has swept it clear, and let the drilled hole be the darkest mark on the entire page. That single dark circle will do more for the picture than anything else you color.
A note for whoever is looking over your shoulder. Anglers judge safety by thickness, and the usual rule of thumb is around four inches of solid clear ice before walking out on it. Fish are still down there in the cold, but their bodies slow right down, so ice fishing tends to be a patient business.
