Two Horses Drinking From A Stream Coloring Page

One horse dips its muzzle to the water and sends rings across the surface while a second stands in the shallows looking straight out at you.

Look at the water first. Where the left hand horse touches its muzzle down, half a dozen rings spread out from that one point, drawn as full circles rather than hinted at. Longer current lines sweep across the rest of the stream in slow curves, and a few smaller ripples gather around the hooves of the second horse where it stands in the shallows.

The drinking horse is shown side on, its neck stretched down the slope of the bank and its mane falling forward along the crest. Its companion faces you directly, head up and ears forward, with the body angled away to the right so that you get the full chest and the round of the barrel at the same time.

Behind the pair the bank is planted with fine upright reeds. A much taller stand of the same reeds crosses the very bottom of the sheet, in front of the water, and that gap between near and far gives the scene depth you can color into.

Leaving the stream nearly white, with only a thin blue along the current lines, keeps those ripple rings readable. Put your strong colors on the two coats and the reeds instead, and the water will still look wet.
