Draft Horse With Decorated Harness Coloring Page

This is a big working horse, and almost every strap it wears has been decorated. The bridle carries a browband of small round beads, a tassel swinging loose beside one ear, and a cheekpiece that buckles under the jaw. A wide collar of square links crosses the chest. Over the shoulder sits a teardrop shaped pad packed with rows of tiny scallops and beadwork, with a braided cord and a second tassel dropping from its point.

The head is turned out toward you while the body keeps walking to the right, so you get the full face and the full flank at once. Thick mane falls forward over the neck. The tail sweeps down one side in long soft strands.

Behind all of this rises a giant horseshoe shaped band, its surface marked off into little rectangles like tiles. The space inside and around it is packed solid with curling paisleys, open roses and fine spirals, and a tall pointed flower crowns the top. Four more blossoms with long narrow petals sit in the corners.

There is a great deal here for patient hands. Try picking one color family for the harness so the beadwork reads as a set, then leaving the horse itself pale so it stands clear of that busy background.
