Broad and round, the goldfish faces right, and the middle of its body carries about twenty large oval scales packed together like stones in a wall. They stop well short of the head and the tail, leaving both plain, so the patterned zone sits as a distinct panel rather than covering everything.
Above it, a tall dorsal fin rises in a rounded fan on five long ribs. Wide and split into two soft lobes, the tail is filled with long strokes spreading from a narrow base. One pectoral fans forward over the scales with its own ruling, and a separate leaf shaped fin hangs below it.
On the face, a big eye with a bold white highlight sits above a wide curved smile that reaches almost to the gill. Line weight is heavy and confident everywhere.
Those oval scales are large enough that each can take a different tone, which is the fastest route to something that looks considered: three or four shades of one orange, distributed so that no two neighbors match.
Keep the fins lighter than the body. The drawing already gives them finer internal lines, and a lighter fill lets that detail stay visible.
