Almost nothing is on this page, which is the entire design brief. One fish, drawn in an outline thick enough to stay visible under a wax crayon held in a fist, and fewer than ten closed areas in total.
Its body is a broad rounded oval facing right. Six short strokes split the ridge along its back into a row of narrow segments, the only repeated detail on the sheet. One pectoral sits mid body with four fine lines inside it, and a forked tail opens at the left.
Most of the attention goes to the face: a large eye with a solid pupil and a white highlight, a small curved brow above it, and a long upward smile running back from the snout. A small squared tab under the belly stands in for a pelvic fin.
Everything else is open. That body alone is a single uninterrupted area larger than most complete drawings elsewhere in this section.
All of which makes it a good first page, and a good page for testing materials. Whatever you are trying out, wash, marker or pastel, you get one big flat surface to try it on before committing to something more detailed.
