A young elephant has curled its trunk down and to one side and is spraying a stream of water toward the ground. The droplets are drawn as separate teardrops, the puddle underneath is a single flat outline with one ripple in it, and a small tuft of grass sits to the right. Its ears are spread and its eyes are two simple dots.

Very few lines, very large shapes. A three or four year old can take this on alone, and the loose droplets are the kind of detail a child can fill or ignore without spoiling anything.

Blue water against a warm gray elephant is the easy version. A more interesting one is to leave the animal almost bare and put everything into the water, which makes the spray the subject.

An elephant's trunk holds around eight liters and contains no bone at all. It works through roughly forty thousand muscle units, more than the entire human body has.
