A big adult elephant faces you head on with a calf tucked at each side, standing in tufted grass with a young tree at the left edge.

Three animals, arranged so that the adult reads first and the calves fill the lower corners. The big one faces you straight on: ears thrown out level with the top of its head, two tusks angling down and in, and a broad trunk that drops to the ground right down the middle of the page.

The calf on the left stands square to you as well, small tusks already showing, mostly screened by the adult's trunk. The one on the right turns partly away, so you get its flank and the curve of its back rather than its chest.

Grass runs across the whole bottom edge in loose spiky tufts, thicker at the two corners, and a thin young tree rises at the far left with a few long leaves.

Everything is drawn in one confident weight with wide open areas inside, and the toenails are picked out individually on all three animals, which gives you a row of small shapes to work along the bottom.

A quick way to keep the group from reading as one gray lump: color the adult a full step darker than the calves. Real elephant calves are lighter anyway, and the contrast separates the overlapping legs without any extra outlining.
