This one is built as a symmetrical panel rather than a scene. The two adults stand back to back, each in full profile facing out toward its own edge of the page, and their bodies meet at the center where a large round rosette fills the space between them like a medallion.
Three calves walk in a row along the bottom of that arch, all facing the same way, each small enough to fit beneath the adults' bellies. The middle one is nearly hidden by the other two.
Decoration is layered on rather than drawn as hide. Both adults wear a draped ear covering with a zigzag lower edge, their trunks are banded in close rings, and fine scrollwork runs along the brow and down the front legs. The calves carry lighter versions of the same patterning.
A narrow filigree band crosses the top of the sheet and another crosses the bottom, each with a rosette at its center and a flourish in each corner. The sides are left open.
The lines in those bands are noticeably finer than the lines on the animals, and they will vanish under a marker tip. Use a sharp pencil there. Save any bold color for the center medallion, which is the only element the composition wants you to look at first.
