Elephant Drinking At A Watering Hole With Birds Coloring Page

An elephant lowers its trunk to the surface of a waterhole and drinks. Its body is filled edge to edge with pattern work, paisleys, florals and fine repeated marks, and its tusks curve out clean and white against it. Three birds share the scene: one wading in the shallows, one standing on a rock, one in flight to the right. Ripples spread across the water and a floral border frames all four sides.

This is a full evening's work. The patterning is the point, so treat it like a mandala rather than an animal and pick a limited palette before you start.

Leaving the tusks and the water pale gives the eye somewhere to rest, which a page this dense badly needs.

Elephants drink through their mouths, not their trunks. The trunk is a straw only in the sense that it holds the water on the way up, and the animal then curls it back and empties it in.
