Puppy Wearing A Birthday Party Hat Coloring Page

A puppy sits facing forward in a cone shaped party hat, spotted, with a small pompom at the tip and a band under one ear holding it on. Its coat is drawn in dense short strokes and its ears fall in soft folds either side of a broad muzzle. The background is a thicket of scrolling stems and open flowers that reaches almost to the edges, with a few loose curls floating in the gaps.

The hat is the one bright, simple object on a very busy page, so it is worth deciding on before you start. Strong flat colors on the hat against a muted background makes the whole thing look designed rather than merely filled in.

This suits an older child or an adult. The fur strokes sit close together and reward a sharp pencil.

If you are printing this for an actual birthday, run it at full page size. The detail in the background collapses if you shrink it to fit several on a sheet.
