Almost the whole page is puppy. The beagle's head and shoulders are drawn large and close, ears hanging in two long panels either side, and the artist has left the muzzle and forehead almost entirely open so there is room to work.
Two things arrive already solid black: the eyes, each carrying a bright highlight, and the broad nose. Those stay as they are. Everything else is open line, including a scatter of freckle dots on the muzzle and a few soft creases above the brow.
The puppy has dipped its head toward a daisy on a tall stem, and the flower touches the side of its mouth. More daisies and long grass blades cross the bottom third of the sheet, with two small blooms floating near the top right corner.
Because the face takes up so much room, this is a good sheet for practicing a single color in several strengths. Press hard along the outside edge of each ear and ease off toward the middle, and the ear will look rounded without a single extra line. The grass can take a second color to push it behind the dog.
