Rooster Standing on a Wooden Fence Post Coloring Page

A rooster stands on top of a wooden fence post with the rail of the fence running away behind him. The straight plank shapes give the page something flat to colour after all the curves of the bird, and they are the easiest part of the sheet, so a child can start there and build confidence before they take on the tail. Chickens roost high on purpose. Given the choice they will climb to the highest perch they can reach at dusk, because height is what kept their wild ancestors away from anything hunting on the ground, and a fence post is the highest thing in most farmyards. The rooster is drawn with a full comb, two wattles and four wide tail feathers, all large enough for a five year old to fill. Colour the post and rail in wood tones and the bird in whatever you like, and the contrast between the two will hold the page together.
