Patterned Chicken With Farm Flowers Coloring Page

This one leaves realism behind and fills a standing chicken with pattern. The body divides into bands of dots, teardrops, scallops and fine lines, and a ring of simple open farm flowers runs around the bird without touching it. It is the closest thing in this set to an adult colouring book page, and it works best with a limited palette. Pick three or four colours, repeat them around the sheet, and let the white paper between the patterns do the rest of the work. Start with the flowers if you want an easy way in, then move to the largest body sections, then finish the smallest marks last. Nothing here is drawn to scale and nothing is meant to look like a photograph, so there is no wrong answer about which section gets which colour. Gel pens and metallic pens both sit well on the small shapes. Print two copies and try a warm palette on one and a cool palette on the other to see how far the same drawing can move.
