A cat has settled into the middle of a round floor cushion and gone to sleep, curled so that its nose almost touches the tip of its tail. Its eyes are drawn as two closed curves, a few short strokes mark the stripes on its forehead, and whiskers fan out from the muzzle. One front paw is tucked up under its chin.

The cushion is the other half of the drawing. It sits as two stacked pads, and small button tufts run all the way around the outer rim, giving a row of little shapes to pick out in a second tone. Line weight here is heavy and unbroken, so nothing is fussy enough to be hard to stay inside.

Large open spaces cover most of the sheet, which suits crayons and thick markers as well as pencils. Try something warm on the cushion and something lighter on the animal so the two shapes separate, or reverse it and let a dark cat sleep on a pale bed. Stripes on the head can be left white for a tabby look, or filled in to make the marking stronger.
