The sunflower is the anchor. It sits low and slightly left, petals layered in two rings, and its face is filled with thousands of tiny stippled dots standing in for the seed head. That disc will swallow any marker you put on it, so most people leave it dark and work outward.
Perched on the topmost petals, a butterfly holds its wings half raised rather than flat. You can see the underside of the far wing behind the near one, which gives the pose some depth, and the forewing edges carry a fine chain of beads down to the tip.
Four heavy flourishes anchor the corners, each built from a dark bloom and a spray of curling leaves. Between them the background carries pale scrolling vines and faint open flowers at a much lighter line weight, so the page has three depths to it: dark corners, mid weight subject, pale ground.
Sunflower heads track the sun while they grow, then settle facing east once they mature. Growers plant them in rows knowing every face will point the same way.
Work the pale background last, in a light wash. Go dark there and the corners stop reading.
