Two rows of white ovals run through the thick black rim of every wing, and the cells inside are big enough for a fat crayon.

Wings spread flat and symmetrical fill the top two thirds of this sheet, which makes it one of the easier butterflies in the set to start on. Each forewing tapers to a rounded point, and the outer margin runs thick and black with two rows of small white ovals punched through it. Inside that border the wing breaks into long cells that radiate from the body like the ribs of a fan, so there are roughly a dozen big shapes per wing rather than fifty small ones.

The body is drawn in three clear parts. A narrow oval head, a rounded thorax, and an abdomen scored across with short rings that read as segments. Two antennae rise from the head and finish in small filled knobs.

A blue morpho carries no blue pigment at all. Its scales are shaped to bend light, so the shade shifts as the insect turns, and the underside is a dull brown covered in eyespots. That gives you two honest ways to take this one: electric blue across the top, or brown and buff if you prefer the resting pose.

Crayon suits the big cells. Save a fine tip for the spotted border.
