Two axolotls meet nose to nose in the middle of this page, each reaching out a front foot so their toes touch. Both are smiling, both have wide heads with large round eyes, and both wear a short fan of gills behind the jaw. The one on the left is speckled with small ovals along its back, while its partner carries teardrop marks instead. Their tails curve away in opposite directions and taper to fine points.
Seven bubbles of differing size rise between and above them. The rest of the sheet is bare paper.
A symmetrical pair like this is an invitation to compare. Work them as near twins with one deliberate difference, or push them in opposite directions entirely and let the touching feet be all they share. Those speckles and teardrops are small but well separated, so they hold a second tone cleanly. The bubbles sit best white or barely tinted. With this much open space, a light background wash is the easiest way to suggest water without drawing a single extra line.
