A small crown rests high on this axolotl's head, built from three pointed peaks with a tiny ball balanced on each tip. Its band is a single open strip, which leaves the whole crown hollow and ready for whatever treatment you choose. Below it the head spreads into a broad oval holding two large eyes, each with a white highlight left clear inside the pupil, plus a confident upward smile.
Three gill stalks curl away from each cheek, thinner than the branching kind and tipped with gentle hooks. The torso is rounded, the front feet splay into four short toes apiece, and a long tail arcs out to the right and tapers to a point well clear of the body.
Treat the crown as the one place to spend your brightest choice. Gold, copper or a flat sunny yellow all read correctly at this size, and the three ball tips make natural spots for a jewel tone. Everything else stays soft by contrast: a pale pink or lilac wash across the head and body is the classic axolotl answer, with the gill curls a shade deeper so they separate from the cheeks.
