A rounded diving mask covers most of this axolotl's face, drawn as one broad frame holding two separate lens outlines with the eyes visible behind them. A strap crosses the side of the head, and a snorkel tube climbs up on the left, bending at the top and finishing with a plain mouthpiece near the jaw. The snout and a small smile sit just below the frame.
Gill fronds spread out from both sides of the head, three prongs to a side, with one extra stalk rising above the mask. The body is plump and plain, propped on four stubby limbs, and the tail curves back to the right at hip height.
Glass is the interesting problem on this sheet. Leaving both lenses white sells them instantly as clear, while a very pale blue across the pair reads as water seen through them. The frame and strap work best as one saturated color so the gear stays separate from the animal, and the snorkel tube can either match the frame or break away into a second bright tone. Keep the body pale so the mask stays the first thing anyone sees.
