A wide scarf loops once around this axolotl's neck and spills down the front of its chest, ending in a short row of straight fringe. The loop itself is drawn as two broad folds crossing at the throat, which gives you three separate panels to treat as one garment or as a stripe pattern. Above it the head is large and friendly, with two big eyes carrying teardrop highlights, three short whisker lines on each cheek and a wide grin underneath.

Two tall gill plumes rise from the top of the head like fronds, with smaller stalks fanning out beside them. Both arms reach out sideways, fingers spread, and the tail swings left behind the standing legs.

Scarves are the easiest thing on this site to make colorful, so take the invitation. Stripes running across the width of the wrap take about four tones before they start to crowd, and the fringe can repeat the boldest of them. Leave the folded edges white to keep the wrap reading as fabric rather than a flat block. A cool blue or deep green scarf sets off a warm pink body nicely.
