Five smooth stones rest on a bed of raked sand across the lower half of this page. Each one is a rounded boulder with a few curved creases marking the facets of its surface, and each sits inside its own halo of fine stippled dots, so the sand appears to have been raked in a ring around every stone.

Between and around those rings, long rake lines sweep across the sand in loose parallel curves. They bend around the stones, run together in places and break apart in others, and one broad band of them winds down the middle of the page from top to bottom like a stream.

A single slender sprig rises from behind the largest stone at the left, three bare stems curving up and apart with nothing on them.

The upper third of the sheet is left completely empty, and that emptiness is doing real work here: it is what makes the swept sand below read as open ground rather than pattern. This is one of the lightest pages in the collection, with very few separate shapes and a lot of long unbroken line to follow.
