Bamboo fills both sides of this page and leaves a tall open clearing down the middle. On the left the culms stand in a dense stand of eight or more, each one segmented by banded joints along its length with short flick marks below each node. On the right a looser group of four or five rises, with more space between them.
Above, the canopy closes in. Long pointed leaves spray out from the tops of the culms in overlapping clusters, each leaf drawn as a narrow closed blade with a center vein and fine parallel ribs. A few loose leaves drift free in the gap between the two stands.
At the base, low clumps of broader leaves and small open flowers grow around the foot of each stand, and a scatter of fallen leaves lies across the ground.
A border of small spirals and curled leaf motifs runs down both outer edges and into the corners. The clearing in the middle is the reason this one is restful despite the density: there is somewhere for the eye to rest, and somewhere to leave white if you want to.
