A broad sombrero tips forward over this calavera and takes up the whole top third of the sheet. The brim sweeps out past the skull on both sides, and a row of round pompoms hangs underneath its edge like beads on a curtain. A plain band circles the base of the crown, left empty on purpose so you can put a pattern there yourself. Under the hat the skull keeps things simple. A five petal flower marks the forehead, both eye sockets stay open as clean ovals, and the nose is drawn as a narrow heart. The teeth run in one long row of separate blocks with a dotted line above them. There is almost no interior detail competing with the hat, which makes this one of the easier sheets here to finish in a single sitting. Pompoms are the obvious place to go wild. Give each one a different shade and the brim turns into a rainbow stripe, which is exactly what a real sombrero trim does. Keep the crown band paler than the pompoms so the hat still reads as one object.
