A tall pointed crown sits squarely on this calavera and claims the upper half of the sheet. Five spikes rise from a wide band, each one carrying a hollow circle where a jewel would be, and the tallest spike at the center holds the largest stone of all. Below them the band carries a row of plain diamonds, every one left blank for you to fill. The skull underneath is decorated rather than plain. A four pointed star marks the brow, both eye sockets are open ovals ringed with fine scallops, and curling flourishes trail from the temples toward the cheeks. The teeth sit in one long boxed row. Crowns want metal, so warm yellows and ambers do most of the work here, with the jewel circles treated as separate bright accents. Try making every stone a different color and the band a single flat tone, which is how real regalia is set. The skull itself can stay pale. A quiet face under a loud crown is a stronger page than two loud halves fighting each other.
