Smiling Cartoon Sugar Skull Coloring Page

Here is the friendliest calavera in the collection. The skull is almost perfectly round, the grin runs ear to ear, and every shape on it is big enough for a crayon. One large heart sits on the forehead with a smaller heart directly below it, so the two read as a pair. Both eye sockets are left open rather than filled in, each ringed by a crown of tiny scalloped petals that look like stitching. The nose is a single heart shape, which is the traditional calavera treatment and a detail most skull drawings get wrong. A neat row of square teeth stretches across the lower jaw, each tooth boxed in on its own. Small ovals and dotted petal clusters balance the cheeks and temples. Because the open areas are so generous, this page suits a child of five or six working with fat markers, and it still rewards an adult who wants to fill the sockets with a bright flat wash. Start with the hearts. Once those are down, the rest of the face falls into place around them, and the symmetry does the work for you.
