Skull With Moths and Stars Coloring Page

A large moth settles across the top of this skull with both wings fully spread, each one marked with a round eyespot and fine veins running out to a scalloped edge. Its antennae curve up and apart above a banded body. Below it the skull stares out with filled sockets and a dark nasal opening, framed by strong cheekbones and a tight double row of teeth. Around all of it float nine open stars at different sizes, scattered across otherwise empty paper. Moths carry the same meaning as the skull does, which is why the pairing works. Many cultures read them as the souls of the dead returning, and the black witch moth in particular is tied to Mexican folklore about a death in the house. The scattered stars are a gift to anyone who wants a quick result. Fill them in bright and the page is lively. Leave them white and the sheet turns moody. Keep the wing eyespots as your strongest accent either way, since that is where a real moth puts its own.
