The title promises tiles but what you actually get is a skull covered end to end in dense floral ornament, and that is arguably better. A large many petaled bloom sits at the top of the forehead surrounded by smaller flowers and leaf sprays. Curling vines run down both temples, wrap around the sockets and continue along the cheekbones, and the area beneath the mouth is packed with more scrollwork so no part of the bone is left plain. Each socket holds a segmented flower rosette inside a thick ring of dots, the nose is a shaded heart, and the tooth row is long and even with a fringe of small pointed motifs above it. Four corner flourishes and a diamond at the base and crown frame the whole thing. Pattern this dense is best handled with a limited palette. Three or four shades used repeatedly will hold together where a dozen turns into noise, and it is worth deciding on the bone color first because it appears in the gaps between every motif. Micro tip pens are close to essential. A pencil will not reach into the smaller spaces without covering the lines that make them worth coloring.
