There is no geometry in this circle at all. Where a mandala usually runs on compass work, this one is assembled out of nothing but foliage, and it holds its round shape purely by repeating leaf shapes at even intervals.

The outermost ring is a crown of long pointed blades, each ruled lengthwise with close parallel veins. Step inward and the blades shorten and round off into broad petals that overlap like roof tiles. Another ring in and they become small cupped shapes packed tightly together. The very middle is a short crown of narrow petals around a plain open circle, which is the only truly empty spot in the design.

Because the rings alternate between veined and smooth, you get a natural rhythm to follow. Coloring every veined ring in one family and every smooth ring in another makes the structure pop out at arm's length, and it takes the guesswork out of where to stop.

The whole thing floats in the middle of the sheet with a wide white margin on all four sides. That margin is worth keeping. It frames the piece the way matting frames a print, and it is the reason this design reads as calm rather than crowded.
