A real open hand, palm forward with the fingers fanned apart, each one carrying its own leaf, curls and dark clasp above a banded wrist cuff.

This is a real hand rather than the symbolic kind. It sits palm forward, thumb swung out to the left, the four fingers fanned so that a clear channel of white paper runs between each one and its neighbor. That spacing is doing real work, since it stops the pattern on one finger crowding into the next.

Every finger follows the same recipe. A leaf with looping interior lines stands inside the fingertip on a short stem, a ruled band cuts across below it, and a pair of ringed dots flank a spray of curling fronds. Halfway down comes a small dark clasp with a triangle beneath it, then a wider fan of curls to finish. The thumb breaks ranks with one modest motif low on its inner edge.

The palm is left mostly open, carrying three motifs and no more: a tall spray of petals rising from the base, a paisley teardrop near the outer edge with a beaded rim and a starburst inside it, and a loose scroll in the upper corner. At the wrist a cuff of four stacked bands closes everything off, running down from arches through upright ticks and a row of ovals to a scalloped fringe.

So much bare paper makes this a quick one to finish. Reds and rust browns will read as henna. Leaving the skin white and coloring only the motifs is the other route, and it keeps the line work crisp.
