The hamsa takes its traditional shape here rather than a realistic one. Three fingers stand upright in the middle and a thumb curves outward on each side, mirrored, which is how the symbol has always been drawn and is not an error in the anatomy.

At the center of the palm sits a large open eye, lid and lashes outlined, a dark ring around a pale iris. A lotus of pointed petals opens all around it so that the eye appears at the heart of a flower. Each finger carries its own stacked column of leafy motifs, and the middle one is topped with a tall fern that reaches to the fingertip.

Spreading left and right from the upper corners of the hand are two wings of loose scrollwork, spirals and long curling feathers, the airiest part of the design. Below the wrist a narrow pendant of stacked leaves and petals hangs down, tapering to a point near the bottom edge.

The line stays fine and even throughout and a great deal of paper is left white, so this prints as a light sheet despite the amount of detail in it. Save your one strong color for the iris. Everything else is happier soft.
