Baby Animals In A Spring Meadow Coloring Page

The bottom third is grass and daisies, the top half is clear white paper, and two young animals stand in between.

A fawn and a smaller companion stand side by side in a band of meadow grass. The taller animal holds its head up and looks straight out at you. Its ears sit wide and open, its neck stretches long, and a short tufted tail flicks up behind it. The little one beside it keeps its head low and its legs bent, closer to the grass than to the sky.

Grass takes up the whole bottom third of the sheet. The blades cross and lean in every direction, and a handful of simple daisies rise out of them on thin stems, two clusters on the left and one on the right.

The top half stays empty. That white space is the best thing about this page for a young colorist, because nothing up there has to be filled in and the animals never get lost in a busy background.

Start with the two animals while your hand is steady. Their bodies are large open shapes with almost no internal detail, so one crayon finishes each one. Save the grass for last and treat it loosely. Nobody needs to color every blade, and leaving some white between them keeps the meadow looking light rather than solid.
