Hay Bales And Cornstalks At The Harvest Farm Coloring Page

Two big round bales fill the bottom of this page. The near one faces you end on, and the tight spiral wound across its face is the most satisfying thing here to color. Follow the spiral out from the middle, changing shade every second turn, and the bale looks properly coiled. The second bale sits side on behind it with three long curved lines running across its length, a much quicker fill. Four cornstalks stand behind them, each a straight stem with long narrow leaves arching away on both sides. Those leaves are drawn as open shapes with a single fold line, so they take a two tone treatment well: lighter along the top edge, darker underneath. Plenty of white paper shows between the stalks, which keeps the back of the scene airy rather than crowded. Scattered grass tufts sit along the ground line. Farms bale hay and cut corn through September and October, so this sheet fits a fall unit on where food comes from. Ask a child what the bales are for before they start and the coloring turns into a conversation.
