Detailed Acorns And Oak Leaves Coloring Page

Two acorns anchor the top of this sheet and five oak leaves spread below them. The caps hold all the detail: each one carries rows of small crosshatched diamonds that read as the scaly texture of a real acorn cap. Color those diamonds individually for a jeweled effect, or lay one flat brown wash across the whole cap and let the line work show through. The nut bodies underneath stay completely open, which makes them the easiest shapes here. Every oak leaf shows a wavy lobed edge and a strong middle vein with side veins running out to each lobe, so you can divide a single leaf into eight or nine small sections and shade each one slightly darker than the last. Generous white space separates the shapes, which means colored pencil will not smudge from one into another and a child can cut each element out afterward. Use this page as a nature study in early fall. Bring in real acorns and leaves from outside, lay them next to the print, and match your colors to what you actually collected.
