Eight bodies of different sizes sit in a row across the middle of this sheet, strung along a ribbon of orbit that sweeps behind and in front of them. The largest carries a few soft bands and a small oval spot. Its neighbor wears a wide tilted ring. Two smaller globes sit to the left with faint surface markings, and a scatter of little circles trails off to the right, along with one tiny moon resting just below the line. A single enormous circle encloses the whole arrangement and turns the lineup into a badge shape. Line weight is light throughout, which makes this a good candidate for colored pencil, watercolor pencil or a soft pastel rather than heavy marker. Because the planets are drawn almost empty, you can invent the surfaces yourself. Bands, swirls, craters and storm spots are all fair additions, and nothing in the drawing fights them. Children learning the order of the planets can label each one in the white space outside the big circle. That outer area stays completely blank, so it also works as a place for a title or a name.
