A child sits on the grass leaning back against the trunk of a big tree in the lower right of this page, knees drawn up and an open book resting against them. Their hair is short and spiky, their eyes are closed in a contented curve, and they wear a short sleeved top and cropped trousers with simple pull on boots.

The tree takes up most of the sheet. Its trunk is wide and slightly leaning, drawn with long vertical grain lines that follow the bark, and a heavy branch reaches out to the left above the child's head.

The canopy is what makes this page. Rather than a single mass, it is built from scores of large individual leaves, each one a broad pointed oval with a center vein and a few side veins drawn in, overlapping one another in layers right across the top two thirds of the sheet. A couple have come loose and drift down at the top left.

Below, short grass marks and two small round flowers on stems dot the ground. Every leaf is its own closed shape, so the canopy is really a large set of compartments.
