Three children run flat out from left to right across a schoolyard. Every one of them has a foot off the ground and arms swinging, and the one in front is glancing back at the other two. Behind them a fence runs the width of the page, and beyond it stands a brick school building with tall windows. The whole bottom third of the sheet is bare ground.
That empty foreground is useful. It is the obvious place for a chalk hopscotch grid, a ball, a fourth friend or whatever your child decides is happening next.
The brick wall is the slow, satisfying part: rows and rows of small rectangles that reward patience and punish nothing.
If you want the runners to stand out, keep the wall in a single muted tone and save anything bright for their clothes. Three children in three strong colors against one quiet building is a reliable way to make a busy scene readable.
Tag is close to universal. Versions of it have been recorded on every inhabited continent, and the rules barely vary: one person chases, touch transfers the role, and there is always somewhere that counts as safe.
