Ice Cream Sundae With Hot Fudge And Cherry On Top Coloring Page

Sauce runs down both sides of a footed sundae glass here, over the rim and all the way to the stem, which gives the drawing its strongest shape to fill. Above it sits a thick swirl of soft ice cream with a stemmed cherry balanced on top, and two long wafer sticks lean out to either side like the arms of a letter Y. The bowl of the glass is decorated with a band of small curls, and behind the whole dessert someone has drawn daisies and fine spiraling vines that reach almost to the edges of the paper.

That background is what makes this sheet take a while. The flowers are open and easy, but the vines behind them are thin, and choosing whether to fill them or leave them white changes the finished picture completely. Leaving them blank pushes the glass forward. Filling them softly turns the page into a pattern.

A good place to begin is the sauce, since it crosses in front of everything else and settles where the darkest value on the page is going to sit.
