Here is one ice cream sandwich, lying flat across the middle of the page, tipped just enough that you can see the top of it as well as the front. It is built from three straight layers. The top is a thin wafer with softly rounded corners, marked with six oval holes arranged in two rows of three, which are the only small shapes on the whole sheet and the natural place to start. Under the wafer sits a thick plain block of ice cream, drawn as one wide empty band with no texture in it at all, so it can be left white for vanilla or filled in solid for chocolate or mint. A second wafer the same size as the first closes the bottom. There is no plate, no ground line and no shadow beneath it, which means the shape floats clear of everything and the outline never has to compete with a background. That makes it a forgiving first sheet for a child who is still learning to slow down at a corner, and it prints just as well shrunk down four to a page for a party table.
