Save this one for somebody who wants to be kept busy. It is a three story Victorian seen straight on, and almost nothing about it is plain. A round turret rises at the left corner under a tall cone roof covered in rows of overlapping fish scale shingles and finished with a small ball finial. Bay windows push out on two floors. A gabled dormer sits to the right with shingled siding of its own, a tall chimney climbs past it, and a band of small blocks runs under the eaves across the whole facade. Below all that a porch wraps the front, carried on slim turned posts with decorative brackets at the top and a railing of close set spindles between them, broken by a flight of steps in the middle. A picket fence and a paved walk close off the bottom. The sheer number of small repeated shapes is the appeal and also the warning. Shingles, spindles, pickets and eave blocks all run in long rows, so it rewards patience and punishes rushing. Start at the top with the turret roof and work down, and do not feel obliged to give every band its own shade. Two or three across the whole house holds it together.
