Tree House Coloring Page

The classic backyard daydream, drawn as a small log walled cabin wedged into the fork of a heavy tree. It has a pitched roof that overhangs on both sides, a large round window, an arched doorway and a deck that wraps the front with a railing on either side of the door. A rope ladder drops from the deck to the ground with a dozen wide rungs to work down, and the trunk spreads into visible roots at the bottom. Branches reach out above and to the sides carrying pointed leaves, some in clusters and some drifting on their own. There is more to color on this page than its simple subject suggests. The log walls repeat, the roof planks repeat, the ladder rungs repeat, and the leaves give a completely different kind of shape to switch to when the straight lines get tiring. Children who like to add things usually add them here, and the deck is the natural place for it, since there is room to draw somebody leaning on the railing. Keep the trunk and branches in one family of shades and the little house in another, and the cabin will read as clearly separate from the tree holding it up.
