Log Cabin Coloring Page

Every wall on this cabin is built from long round logs stacked one on top of the next, and at both front corners the log ends stick out and cross over each other exactly the way real notched corners do. That detail is what sells it. Counting up from the doorstep there are seven courses of logs, each one its own closed shape running the full width of the page, so there is a clear order to follow if a child wants to work from the bottom up. A tall chimney built from the same logs runs up the left side and releases a loose curl of smoke. The roof is laid in long planks. One four paned window sits high on the right under the eaves, and a plank door with a round handle opens onto a single slab step. Two small tufts of grass mark the ground. Repetition like this is unusually forgiving. Nothing has to line up perfectly, because the logs already do the work of making the drawing look organized. Try alternating light and dark down the courses and the wall reads as timber, or shade only the crossed corner ends and the rest of the cabin suddenly looks three dimensional.
