Igloo Coloring Page

An igloo turns out to be the neatest geometry lesson in this collection. The dome is built from seven rows of blocks that grow shorter and narrower as they climb, finishing in a single cap block right at the top, and a short tunnel pushes out at the front built from its own ring of smaller blocks around an arched opening. Every block is drawn as a separate closed outline with nothing filled in, so there are more than fifty individual shapes on the page and not one of them is too small to color. The only other mark is a soft horizon line running left and right behind the dome. Snow is white, which sounds like a problem for a coloring page and is actually the opportunity. Nobody expects this one to be realistic, so it invites patterns that no other sheet here would take. Color every block a different shade and it becomes a quilt. Color two rows and skip two and it stripes. Use three shades in rotation and you get a woven effect that follows the curve of the dome. It is also a genuinely calming sheet to work through, because the order is already decided for you.
