Wizard Merlin With A Magic Staff

An old wizard stands facing forward on this sheet, and almost every line on the page belongs to him. His hat is enormous, a tall cone that bends over near the tip and sits on a wide flat brim, and it takes up the whole top third of the paper. Under the brim his eyebrows are bushy, his nose is round and his moustache sweeps out to either side before joining a beard that reaches well past his waist. That beard is drawn as one long tapering shape with a handful of strands marked inside it, so it can be left pale to read as white hair or filled in to change his age entirely. His robe hangs from the shoulders to the floor in a single wide bell with no cape over it and only a few soft fold lines running down the front, which leaves one of the largest uninterrupted areas in the whole fairy tale set. In his right hand he grips a knotted wooden staff that stands taller than he does, its surface marked with the bumps and grain of a cut branch. Two bare toes peek out beneath the hem.
