Three pigs stand in a row facing straight out of the page, and they are drawn round enough that each body is essentially one big oval. Their ears flop forward above their eyes, their snouts are wide with two dark nostrils, and small curled tails poke out at the sides. Little trotters mark the bottom of each body. Because the three are so alike, the fun here is in telling them apart, and the houses behind them make that easy. A brick wall rises behind the pig on the left, its courses laid out as neat rectangles. The middle of the sheet shows an upright structure of planks and sticks. On the right stands a sturdier wooden building with a pitched roof and a beam across its front. Tufts of grass are scattered along the ground in short open strokes, with plenty of white paper showing between them. The bricks are the one area that rewards real patience, since there are enough of them to build up a pattern. Everything else on the page is large and forgiving, which makes this a good sheet for two children to work on together at the same table.
