Rapunzel Letting Down Her Long Hair

A round tower takes up almost the entire sheet, capped with square battlements along the top edge and built from big irregular blocks. Those blocks are the reason this page takes longer than it first looks. There are perhaps fifteen of them scattered across the wall, each a closed shape of its own, and filling them in alternating tones turns the plain tower into stonework. An arched window is set high in the wall, and a girl leans out of it with both hands resting on the sill. Her face is drawn small and simple, and her hair falls forward on either side of it. From the sill a long braid drops straight down the outside of the tower, plaited into a neat row of interlocking loops that runs a good two thirds of the way to the ground before finishing in a loose tuft. Counting the loops in that braid is a small game in itself. A single line at the bottom shows where the tower meets the ground, and the paper below it is left empty. Keeping that strip white helps the tower feel tall, so it is worth resisting the urge to fill it.
