Birthday Treasure Hunt In The Backyard Coloring Page

A child kneels at the left of this page beside an open chest, holding a small bunch of gathered stems against their chest and smiling with their eyes closed. They wear a soft bonnet tied under the chin and a long plain smock that pools on the ground.

The chest is the find. Its curved lid is propped wide open, the body is banded with broad straps and a row of studs, and it is heaped to overflowing with rounded shapes. A single tall candle stands among them.

Below and to the right, more of the hoard has spilled out: two wheel shaped discs patterned with spokes, a small barrel, a rounded pot, a cut open fruit and a low open box, all nestled into the grass.

Everything else is garden. Flowers, broad leaves and trailing stems fill all four edges and press right into the middle, two trees rise at the corners with a small bird perched on a branch at the upper left, and round bubbles drift through the gaps. It is a dense page, so the open sky above the chest is the one place the eye gets to rest.
