First Day Of School Scene With Excited Child Coloring Page

It is the first morning of school, and the child in the middle of this page is clearly delighted about it. One hand is raised in a big wave, the other holds a lunch box, and a backpack is already strapped on over a t-shirt and shorts. Two gate panels stand open on either side, and a path runs away behind, heading off toward whatever the day turns out to hold. A tree spreads overhead with hundreds of small separate leaves, and flowering bushes crowd in along both edges of the path.

This sheet carries far more line work than the simpler pages in the set, so it suits an older child, or an adult who wants to settle in with it for a while. The leaves and the petals are the slow part, and they repay some patience: working them in two or three related tones gives the tree real depth. The clothes and the gate panels are the large restful areas to come back to whenever the small detail starts to tire the hand.
