This one comes in close, head and shoulders only. A thick crown of open blossoms and small sprigs sits across the top of her head, wide petalled flowers at the front and finer buds trailing out to each side. Her hair falls in heavy strands past her shoulders, drawn with long parallel lines. She has very large eyes with full lashes, a small nose, and short hatched dashes on each cheek standing in for a blush. A ruffled collar sits at her throat above puffed sleeves and a single round button. Four slender wildflowers rise behind her, two on each side.

The flower crown carries most of the interest and it breaks into perhaps twenty separate petals, each one closed and generous. That is a good amount of work without being fiddly.

Note the cheek dashes are drawn as lines, not filled, so they stay whatever color you leave them. Pressing hard there will make her look sunburned rather than rosy.

Flower crowns turn up at midsummer across most of northern Europe, and in Sweden and Latvia people still make them from whatever is in the hedgerow that week.
